Frequently Asked Questions

When should I order my dress?
We have to give most designers at least 6-8 months from order date. This gives you good time for fittings, etc. However, in some circumstances we have been able to get dresses in 6-8 weeks.

When do I pay for my dress?
A 50% deposit is required to get the dress on order and through the system. The balance must be paid within 21 days of delivery to the shop.

Do you offer payment terms?
We are flexible to your requirements. You can pay your dress off on a regular (weekly/monthly) basis.

Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes. It is advisable to make an appointment so we can dedicate time to you and allocate a private changing room for you to use.

How long do I get to try dresses on?
We always allocate at least 1 hour on Saturdays and up to 1.5 hours on weekdays. If a second visit is required, it is usually around 45 minutes as your dress selection will be narrower than on your first visit.

How many dresses can I try on?
It is normally possible to try on eight dresses in one hour and this can depend on how many people you bring with you. We would advise that you try to bring no more than three others. This will help you to decide more easily.

What sizes do you hold?
Mainly sizes 12-18, but we do have some dresses up to size 26. However, depending on your choice of designer, we can get sizes from 4-30.

Do you have dresses for older brides?
Yes. We have dresses of all different styles, colours and sizes to suit your age, personality and looks.

What price range are your dresses?
Our dresses are priced from £400 to £2,000.

Do you offer alteration services and is so, how much?
Yes. We have qualified seamstresses that will do the alterations on our premises. They have allocated days for fitting. We do not operate a fixed charge policy, we only charge for the alteration that needs doing on a dress.

Can you offer an alteration service if I bought my dress elsewhere?
Absolutely not. We have seen some upset brides that have bought their bargain dresses on the Internet only to find it is not an original designer fit and wanting us to try and alter it. We don't go into that market and would advise brides to be very careful as it's your one and only dream dress. Buy your dress from Maria Modes and you are 100% guaranteed that you are buying an original top designer dress with all the backup service that goes with it.

Do you sell second hand dresses?
No. We do, however, sell end of season dresses at 50% off RSP. These are our sample dresses and have never been taken out of the shop.

Do you have any sale dresses?
Yes. We often have dresses to suit all budgets, and we have special floor at our Leek shop allocated for our a large selection of end of season lines sale dresses.

Do you offer any special packages?
Yes. When you buy your dress from Maria Modes, you get 10% off all your Bridesmaids outfits and a free suit hire for the groom. Depending on the size of your groom's party, we amy also be able to offer a reasonable discount.

Do you store my wedding dress?
We will hold dresses in the shop for up to 2 months from delivery to the shop. You will be informed when your dress has arrived. A small storage fee will apply if you want us to store it for longer than 2 months (this is to cover the cost of storage and insurance). Normally brides take their dress and return it to us 6 weeks before the wedding for alterations, after which the dress will be professionally steamed and bagged ready for collection 1 week before your wedding.
